About TCCO
Turtle Creek Chamber Orchestra (TCCO) is Southern Wisconsin state line area’s premiere string orchestra.
TCCO's mission is to educate and entertain the public to the joys of live music. TCCO plays a variety of music, including classical, Broadway, jazz, and pop music.
In the spring of 2012, several individuals who share the same love for music, decided to float the idea of a summer-only chamber orchestra with an express desire to reach out and teach the youth of Southern Wisconsin. Due to the lack of music/art classes in the school systems, music education became a concern and it was felt that opening a summer string camp for youth might be a step in the right direction in developing and encouraging young musicians. Dr. J. Ian Nie, Music Professor at Beloit College and his student, Carol Roy, invited other interested music teachers and professionals to meet in April 2012, and Turtle Creek Chamber Orchestra (TCCO) was launched. TCCO was granted 501c3 status shortly thereafter.
Our first concerts were well received however, the big surprise was the enrollment of students at our first summer camp. The first year we anticipated 20 children, but were pleasantly surprised to have in attendance nearly twice that many, with some 39 students enrolled that first summer.
Since then, our enrollments have continued to grow beyond our expectations. We have been fortunate to have some remarkable individuals as our guest clinicians for the past few camps, and have seen our enrollment numbers continue to grow. We hope to see this trend of growth continue as support for the orchestra continues to grow.
