Youth Programs
TCCO offers two different opportunities for young people to get involved in music.

In January we sponsor the Nie Young Artist Scholarship Competition for strings and piano. Students are invited to compete for cash scholarships, and three different ability levels are recognized. Participants are judged by professional musicians and area teachers, with winners of each category featured on a Winner's Concert in February, and other performance opportunities available over the course of the concert season.

In July each year we offer a five day summer string camp during which students have an opportunity to work with and learn from members of the orchestra and professional guest clinicians. The last day of camp attendees enjoy a dinner party and then perform a concert for their friends and family. Our camp has grown steadily with each passing year, with the exception of 2020 and 2021, which were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many thanks to all our sponsors & donors for this annual event. Our goal for students who attend string camp is to have fun and make new friends, while learning new techniques for making the most of their chosen instruments.

Whatever the string instrument, violin, viola, cello or bass, our professional teachers and performers will provide you with fundamentals of music theory, instruction and knowledge as a foundation for your education and musical journey to success, culminating in performing before a live audience.
